There’s always a lot of advice for creators to just start.

That first video. That first upload. The moment you finally decide to stop overthinking and hit publish… and that’s bang-on good advice

However, starting isn’t a one-time thing. You have to keep starting. Over and over again because what gets you here, won’t always get you there.

You might be asking “what are you talking about?”. Well, here goes.

Most top creators reach a point where they find what works:

  • The Format

  • The Structure

  • The Call to action

Everything works. Everything is consistent.

So they double down. They refine. They build systems and lean into consistency and that’s good! Consistency builds connection. It also helps build a scaffold for your creativity to grow.

However, more often than not, that same consistency turns into safety and safety can quietly kill creativity. A channel can stagnate and the audience engagement starts to wither and die.

I’ve seen it happen over and over again - creators who built massive audiences start to fear the thing that got them here in the first place: experimentation.

They stop testing new ideas. They stop taking creative risks. They start protecting what they have, and in doing so, they stop growing.

When you get to this stage, the biggest risk isn’t trying something new. It’s not experimenting at all.

So yes, consistency matters, but so does curiosity.

So, you need to continually start again. Test again. Take the risk.

Try a new format - short, long, podcast, newsletter, whatever scares you most. Test different ways to connect with your community. Try a different type of collaboration. Test new ways to make money.

This is where the breakthroughs happen.

This isn’t just for top creators. It’s proven insanely impactful for creators at all levels and is something that we’ve built into all of our Accelerator programs.

So here’s how you can experiment

  • Pick your experiment.

  • Start.

  • Stick with it for 4 weeks. Don’t bail out after one iteration. Stick with it. Get comfortable with the discomfort, because it’s going to be a bit uncomfortable.

  • Now see what the data says.

What did you learn? How can you improve? What are you going to do next?

Now, do it again.

Because the best creators I know are the ones still experimenting. They know they don’t grow by staying safe. You grow by staying curious.

Cheers,
